Still on the honeymoon: First days in Doha, Qatar

After two amazing years in Costa Rica, I think we caught the travel bug. We thought we were going back to the U.S. until a few months ago when we found this little spot on the map called Qatar. Three days ago we flew 12,000 miles (about a 13 hour flight from Chicago) around the world to Doha, Qatar, and I must say, we are already in love. After stepping off the plane, we wondered for a minute what in the world we got ourselves in to. We immediately felt wet and Jared’s glasses fogged up. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s a dry heat. Getting use to the 110 degree days will take some time, but that’s okay because after getting greeted by the sweetest administration/staff, being temporarily placed in a 5 star hotel until our housing is furnished, and taking in all of the sights, we are very happy with our decision.

Museum of Islamic Art

So far we have visited the Museum of Islamic Art, the Villagio mall, the Corniche for a water fountain/light show, the Souq, which is an outside market, and have eaten some amazing food with great people. Not to mention we get to share this adventure with my sister-in-law, Whitney, which I could not be more happy about. The past few days have been a bit of a whirlwind, but we can’t wait to help start a brand new school and keep marking places off our bucket list.
